Kutna Hora
have just returned from a wonderful holiday for 5 days in Prague and I wanted to start the story of this adventure trip to a beautiful day to do in the nearby (70 km) in Prague . Before leaving Italy I was informed about train timetables on the website of the czech railway from which I could see that Prague-Kutna Hora is a well-connected and can be reached in about an hour away. After a hearty breakfast at the hotel we go to central train station in Prague (hlavny nadrazi) and make them tickets to Kutna Hora (2 round trip tickets just over 10 €.) Council you also have to buy a return ticket because The ticket office on the evening of Kutna Hora is chiusa.Puntuali reach our destination, we read in the guide that there is a small journey by foot from the train just starting, so legs shoulder follow a group of tourists Nipponese too Direct Sedlec dlec , the journey is not long (10 minute walk) during which we stopped in a grocery store where we buy water and various junk
for refreshments plus a few packs of cigarettes for my brother in front of the shop is in fact the factory of Philip Morris and here you can buy a pack of cigarettes of that brand a little more than € 2 (59 crowns for the accuracy and yellow). In fact we encounter the first monument is the cathedral of Our Lady (UNESCO) that visit, I recommend the ticket to the ticket for other attractions so that you can save money, we did that for Santa Barbara, the ossuary of Sedlec and that for the Cathedral of Our Lady for 115 SEK per person (about 4.50 €) but it was possible wishing to add other attractions.
The cathedral is impressive but not exciting, not far clearly indicated the ossuary of Sedlec, a sort of Addams family's residence because the ladies of the period authorized un'intagliatore wood to create compositions macabre with the bones contained in the crypt, was in this way that the skeletons of 40 million people gave birth to a single work of its kind, candelabbri, chandeliers and garlands of skulls made from the bones of the body, very impressive. The visit is really the Sedlec ossuary missed so if you're in Prague try to dedicate at least a day in Kutna Hora you will not regret it cve.!
Leaving dall'ossario Sedlec you have two options or take a tourist bus that
takes you to Santa Barbara or take a walk erroneously indicated that my guide in 20 minutes in reality it takes at least forty so we highly recommend the first solution. At the center of Kutna Hora we head to the point where tourism required in computerized information we are given a map of the city and listed the major points of interest turistico.La Our first stop
is the Italian court (about 3.15 crowns ticket 80 €), the former Royal Mint, whose name comes from the Tuscan artisans did get to start the coinage of silver, the material of which the area was once rich ., in Czech, however, visit us at the ticket brochures will be delivered in Italian, the visit is interesting but not a must.
walking distance of the Italian court, the church of San Giacomo even this can not miss.
out of there we head to the silver mines not far away where you can have two types of turns, a short and a much broader with a visit to
mines, Meks is a ride that I recommend you do not absolutely sure you suffer from claustrophobia because there are tunnels in the mine where you have to pass narrow and short but as I always say if the 'we did that we are normal people can be done by anyone, the only prudence would be to bring scarpre suitable for the less closed. The tour is interesting and brings us away about an hour and a half where there are explained at least I think (the visit here is why in Czech or English) the living conditions of miners and the mode of extraction of silver. We go out very happy from the mines because the visit is very interesting and engaging, recommended.
We end our tour to Kutna Hora with a visit to Santa Barbara to which one comes from silver mines through a terrace decorated with statues (this recalls the Charles Bridge in Prague) among which the fact that the city's patron Saint and miners. the Cathedral of Santa Barbara is
not to be missed and is very reminiscent St. Vitus in Prague for which there are no words to describe the beauty absolutely be included in your tour of Kutna Hora nzion centrum
if you want to spend a little less near the charnel I saw a hostel but then like any good traveler knows the cheapest on the net are always a lot you just need a little luck and perseverance to seek that which most suits your needs.
Just to give you a reference and to understand the distances apart from the Sedlec ossuary and the Cathedral of Our Lady that are close to the train station all the other tourist attractions that Santa Barbara, the monastery of the Jesuits, the silver mines , the Italian court and the square main are within walking distance of each other even if you do take advice directly to the Santa Barbara road will be all downhill.
Let's go back to the train station in the evening, everything is closed and there is no one to be able to request information with our other two Japanese tourists most of us confused because they do not know how to make the return ticket for more luck Later we discover that you can do so by the controller in the car, perhaps a tourist information point in the station there would be bad considering the fact that the majority of tourists arrive by train from Prague but other than that Kutna Hora is an absolutely wonderful city to visit and I hope this post have given you some useful information for planning your visita.Dimenticasvo when you return to Prague to take a train to Prague FIRO although not the most beautiful monument of the city , has a dome very interesting art nouveau.
the inside of the dome is decorated with two female figures framing a mosaic with the words prague urbium mater, or mother of the Prague city.
